• EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Mission: ► To end the year 2009 with an astonishing comeback from the Korea’s most promising girl group, the So Nyeo Shi Dae, better known as SNSD or Girls Generation.

► To produce a quality album for SNSD that will justify the hits made by the launching of Gee and Genie, and to show the members diverse qualities thru a representation of classical mythological characters.

2009 is a great year for SNSD. It started with their major comeback last January after their 9 month-Hiatus. Fans were swept away by their hit song Gee and the dance craze made the fans even more electrified. Last June, another single entitled Genie was launched, and it is likewise astounding. ‘Soshified’, a forum site dedicated for SNSD has this statement, “2009 will start and end with SNSD.”

With this testimonial as a source of my inspiration, it is with pride and humility to present my concept for the upcoming Comeback of SNSD slated on the second half of the year, most probably on November. I know, as of this writing (August 16, 2009), the producers and staff of SM Entertainment is working on the concept of SNSD’s next project. But I’m still hopeful that this concept could be considered.

Transition has a major role in Entertainment. It can make or break the show. As I reviewed the debuts made by SNSD for the year 2009, they started with Gee. The members look cute, and even the song selections project a cheerful feeling. Then, in the mid-2009 they launched Genie, and the members shifted from giggling girls to a more daring one. The point here is that they are reinventing themselves. The song selections, choreography and looks of the artists were meticulously studied and executed.

The question now is how we could end the year with a big hit? How the shift should takes place without breaking the transition pattern of SNSD from Early-2009, Mid-2009 and to the upcoming year-end comeback?

In line with this inquest, a transition plan is given as indicated below:

My concept is to turn them into 9 Goddesses as ‘adopted from the Greek mythology’.

“According to Wikipedia, the Greek Muses were a source of inspiration in ancient greek culture. Embodying archetypal qualities of artists, poets, musicians and dancers they hold a fascination even to this day.”

Like the Greek Muses, SNSD are a source of inspiration from their families, friends, supporters, fans, ‘sunbaes’ and other individuals. Some of our contemporary artists all around the globe, may it be professionals or amateurs were also inspired by this girl group. (Please see sample SNSD artworks below. These were taken from SNSD blogs and forum sites. Credits to all artists who made these!)

“THE MOUSAI (Muse) were the goddesses of music, song and dance, and the source of inspiration to poets. In ancient Greek vase painting the Mousai were depicted as beautiful young women with a variety of musical intruments.

Like the Greek Muses, SNSD consists of 9 beautiful ladies namely: Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun. Prior their first debut, they’ve been together in one dorm, and from that day on, they treated each other as sisters. They were introduced to the public as a girl group. They are singers by career, but as entertainers, they also dance, and perform live in different shows. Some of the members are also dramatic actresses, DJs, MCs, and comediennes. When they perform together, the stage just looks magical.

“Plutarch (l. c.) states that in some places all nine were designated by the common name Mneiae, i. e. Remembrances.”

Similar to the Muses of Greek mythology, all nine were designated by the common name So Nyeo Shi Dae / SNSD / Girls Generation. Evidently, the girls always introduced themselves as SNSD in every singing engagement, shows, guestings and the like.

“In modern English usage, muse can refer in general to a person who inspires an artist, writer, or musician.”

And lastly, SNSD inspires modern artists and professionals, especially those who write their songs, conceptualize programs or shows, write scripts and dramas, and brainstorm excellent choreography.

2. To make SNSD the Korea’s best girl group for the year 2009
